PROJECTIONS DESIGN FOR ADELPHI UNIVERSITY’S PRODUCTION OF LOVE AND INFORMATION
I have a deep passion for theater, graphic design, cinematography, and photography. On my website, you can find a portfolio showcasing my graphic design, video, and theater work. You will also find two complete job and theater resumes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
My name is Jamie Knafel. I am 20 years old, based in southern Vermont and New York City and currently studying at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York where I’m majoring in Theater Design and Technology with a concentration in lighting and media design.
I grew up in southern Vermont and am a 2023 graduate of Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, Vermont.

Each of my designs are created with unique quality and individual care.
My design style is very ‘clean’, meaning the placement of elements on a design are organized and sharp. If I am unsure of how to create a specific element of design, I will research the process and apply it to a design. A few of the design programs I frequently utilize are Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. My videography projects use Final Cut Pro, Motion, Logic Pro and QLab. For projects requiring a fine “pen to paper” aspect, I use a Wacom Tablet.
In January of 2025, I had the opportunity to attend the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a group of students from the Adelphi University Department of Theater. After lot’s of preparation and late night presentation rehearsals I presented my projections design for Adelphi’s production of Love and Information to a panel of judges. The presentation took place in the form of a digital slideshow, tri-fold poster board and a 7 minute presentation/Q/A. At the closing ceremony, I received 1st place for Projections Design within the Design, Technology, and Management category. At the Festival, I met many people, made connections, received helpful design advice and feedback and attended amazing technical theater workshops. I am excited to have received this award and to be one of the few students attending the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) in March of 2025. I will go on a fully funded trip by the Kennedy Center to Columbus, Ohio to continue sharing my design, taking classes, and making connections at the national level.
